It is a coach and a player role that combines technical leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring that embedded solutions meet performance, reliability, and compliance standards across hardware platforms.</p><p></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p><p></p><p><b>Leadership & Strategy:</b></p><ul><li><p>Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers and/or engineering managers.</p></li><li><p>Define team goals, development roadmaps, and performance metrics.</p></li><li><p>Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.</p></li><li><p>Align software development efforts with organizational objectives and product strategies.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Technical Oversight:</b></p><ul><li><p>Guide architecture and design of embedded software systems using C/C++.</p></li><li><p>Ensure integration with hardware components and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, etc.).</p></li><li><p>Oversee software validation, verification, and compliance per IEC 62304</p></li><li><p>Drive adoption of best practices in version control, CI/CD, simulation, and debugging.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Project & Process Management</b></p><ul><li><p>Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities and resources.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, QA, product, and operations teams.</p></li><li><p>Ensure timely delivery of high-quality software within budget constraints.</p></li><li><p>Maintain documentation and traceability for regulatory and quality audits.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Talent Development</b></p><ul><li><p>Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent.</p></li><li><p>Conduct performance reviews and career development planning.</p></li><li><p>Promote knowledge sharing and technical training within the team.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Education:</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Experience:</b></p><ul><li><p>10+ years in embedded software development in medical device domain.</p></li><li><p>4+ years in a leadership or managerial role.</p></li><li><p>Proven experience with embedded systems in consumer electronics, automotive, medical devices, or industrial applications.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Skills:</b></p><ul><li><p>Strong proficiency in C/C++ and QNX operating system.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with software development tools (e.g., JAMA, Git, Jenkins, JIRA).</p></li><li><p>Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.</p></li><li><p>Experience with Agile methodologies and software lifecycle management.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Certifications:</b></p><ul><li><p>PMP, Scrum Master, or equivalent project management certifications.</p></li><li><p>Domain-specific certifications (e.g., medical device software compliance, automotive safety standards).</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401k).This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program. Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits: Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year. Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year.
